Fan Movie Challenge »
The Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge is back in full force, now with more ways for moviemakers to qualify their creations. Formerly called the Star Wars Fan Film Awards, the Movie Challenge is revamped to include a category for "fan fiction" which will be offered for the first time, in addition to parody, documentary, experimental, and other categories.
Lucasfilm Ltd. has teamed up with AtomFilms and Spike TV for the launch of the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge, and are making a call for immediate submissions at AtomFilms' Star Wars movie website.
Those who enter the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge and are chosen as finalists will find themselves and their movies in the spotlight. All finalists in the competition will be played at Star Wars Celebration IV in a dedicated track each day of the show. What's more, the best movies of the competition will be recognized at the Sixth Annual Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge Award Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, May 27.
That's not all. As added exposure for moviemakers, Spike TV will broadcast content from the Challenge.
The deadline for the 2007 Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge, for the award ceremony at Celebration IV, is Monday, April 30, 2007. Talented moviemakers need to submit their movie before that date on AtomFilms.com in order to be considered in this year's challenge.
The finalists are in for the next Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge and your vote helps determine who wins the Audience Choice Award.
There are 19 official selections in this year's crop of Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge challenges. This year, the Fan Movie Challenge received a record-breaking number of submissions from five continents between March and May 2007. The official selections are in competition for seven awards of merit judged by George Lucas, Lucasfilm staff, and AtomFilms staff, in addition to the the Audience Choice Award. Details

There will be three separate competitions, and Padawans may enter any one, two or all three:
- FORCE FX BATTLE EXTREME
- FORCE FX MASTER EXHIBITION
- FORCE FX FREESTYLE CHALLENGE
For this trial, our competitors will be randomly inserted into a traditional bracket. Each will be pitted against another Padawan in a Freestyle Lightsaber battle. The first combatant (Padawan A) will have 30 seconds to show his or her stuff, while their opponent watches. (There is to be no contact between sabers during this competition!) Then the second combatant (Padawan B) will have 30 seconds to rebut. Then Padawan A has 30 seconds, and finally Padawan B once again.
Actual competitions will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26.
